RKL Partner Earns Prestigious Awards in Reading, PA

Paula K. Barrett, CPA/ABV, CVA, partner and practice leader of RKL’s Consulting Services Group, has earned two awards recognizing her leadership, professional achievements and community contributions.

In March, the Greater Reading Chamber of Commerce & Industry announced Barrett was the recipient of the ATHENA Award, which is bestowed upon a professional who demonstrates excellence, creativity in their profession, provides valuable service to the community and actively assists women in reaching their full leadership potential. The award will be presented at a breakfast held during the Chamber’s Spring Renewal Women’s Expo, scheduled for Friday, April 19 at the Crowne Plaza in Reading.

Barrett was also named to Lehigh Valley Business Journal’s 2013 “Women of Influence” list. This awards program honors Greater Lehigh Valley’s most dynamic women in business. Recipients are selected based on their dedication to business growth, professional and personal accomplishments, community involvement and advocacy for women. Barrett will be honored along with her peers on Monday, May 6 at ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks in Bethlehem, PA.

With RKL since 1989, Barrett is a Certified Public Accountant and a leading business valuation expert with Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) and Certified Valuation Analyst® (CVA) designations. Barrett is also the practice leader of the firm’s Business Consulting Services Group. Specializing in business valuation, litigation support services and mergers/acquisitions, Barrett’s leadership and vision has resulted in significant growth for the firm’s consulting practice.

Throughout her career, Barrett has been an active supporter of her community, contributing to the success of many organizations and initiatives, including the Greater Reading Chamber of Commerce & Industry; Great Valley Girl Scouts; Penn State Berks Advisory Board; Berks County Women in Crisis; and many others.

A working mother of two, Barrett was instrumental in the development of RKL’s creative and progressive philosophy toward working mothers. Barrett helped lead the way for the acceptance of flexible and reduced hour work schedules throughout the firm, helping retain valued employees seeking balance in their personal and professional lives. She has served as mentor to women at RKL and outside the firm, encouraging them to reach their personal and professional goals.

Barrett resides in Maidencreek Township with her husband of 28 years, Patrick Barrett.
