Sisters Laura and Amanda Hornberger represent a new, home-grown brand of entrepreneurism.
Young, bold and intelligent, the two have turned their hobby – selling vintage jewelry, accessories, clothing and more online – into a fast-growing online store, Maejean Vintage.
Making the Leap.
From being featured in Teen Vogue to supplying costume designers from major network TV shows, the Lititz-based duo possesses remarkable business savvy. That includes the wisdom to know when to turn to the experts for help. When older sister Laura decided to make her moonlighting side project a full-time venture, she turned to RKL.
The sisters represent the third generation of Hornbergers whom RKL’s team members have been happy to serve. Tax partner Eric Wenger helped the two transition Maejean Vintage into a full-time business, advising them on personal tax issues, bookkeeping methods, entity structure and state sales tax compliance.
“As small business owners, we wear so many different hats. With RKL, we can focus on our business without worrying about tax and accounting issues,” Laura says. “Eric really wanted to understand Maejean. He takes complex issues and makes them easy for us to understand and implement.”
A Brilliant Future.
With big plans on the horizon – including a possible brick-and-mortar location, employees and transitioning the business into a partnership – Laura and Amanda embody a promising entrepreneurial spirit and vision that RKL is excited to play a role in. Quite simply, we can’t wait to see what’s next from these two dynamic young women.
