As part of our commitment to community benefit organizations, RKL hosted a half-day Not-for-Profit Change and Sustainability Forum on Tuesday, October 23. More than 70 nonprofit executives gathered at the DoubleTree Hotel in Reading to get insights and trusted guidance on the significant hurdles currently facing the industry, such as reductions in charitable giving, budgetary constraints and demands for increasing transparency.
Attendees heard from RKL professionals on how the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act will impact their nonprofit’s bottom line, how to prepare for new financial reporting standards and how to identify weaknesses in data security. Guest speaker Richard Caputo from Fox Rothschild LLP gave a legal update which offered guidance on maximizing deductions from endowments and avoiding conflicts of interest. The forum ended with lunch and a peer discussion, allowing attendees to determine best practices for overcoming the organizational challenges covered during the event.
