Leave no stone unturned. This motto has guided Michael Bannasch throughout his life and led him to pursue a specialization in state and local tax consulting, which allows him to combine his knack for numbers and his love of learning and research.
State and local tax matters affect organizations of all sizes across all industries, from a convenience store charging sales tax to a tech company with remote workers in multiple states. As RKL’s State and Local Tax Practice Leader, Michael works to maximize opportunities and minimize risks for companies operating throughout Pennsylvania and across the country.
When he’s not examining nexus, conducting reverse sales and use tax audits, analyzing apportionment sourcing or representing clients in audits, Michael reads statute and interprets court cases to stay abreast of changes in tax law at the state and local level. Michael’s clients rely on his ability to impart knowledge and distill intricate legal provisions down to the potential benefits or pitfalls for their organizations.
“The best part of my job? Taking big and possibly scary state and local tax issues and helping clients see them as manageable. We give them peace of mind by defending their interests expertly and professionally.”
