This session will focus on the impacts of recent tax legislation, new tax regulations, recent court cases and IRS rulings affecting individual and corporate taxpayers on the federal and state level. It will also highlight tax planning strategies for individual and corporate taxpayers, including adoption of cost segregation strategies to reduce taxable income and increase cash flow. Attendees of this session will be able to interpret recent individual and corporate tax updates, including new developments for the U.S. tax treatment of companies doing business overseas. Attendees will be introduced to tax savings strategies and will be able to recognize key business tax issues that may impact their businesses or clients for 2019 year-end planning and 2019 tax filings.

Merger and Acquisition (M&A) activity can fluctuate greatly from industry to industry and region to region. However, the overall trend of M&A activity for the last five years indicates that many companies continue to actively seek inorganic growth. As you contemplate a buy or sell transaction, it’s important to understand what activity is happening in your region. By the end of this session, attendees will understand critical aspects of local M&A activity, including industry trends and private equity activity. Additionally attendees will acquire a general overview of middle market M&A activity within our region.

Brad will walk the audience through the evolution of technology and its impact on accounting and reporting today, tomorrow and beyond. He will discuss how an increasing omnipresent interaction with technology is quickly changing expectations of business partners and how we can adjust to meet them. Brad will share a number of emerging technologies you can leverage today to meet both your reporting and management demands and improve your overall experience. Attendees will leave the session with a working knowledge of emerging technologies and how they are impacting Accounting & Auditing responsibilities.

It’s imperative that companies understand recently issued and currently proposed accounting standards to avoid potential costly problems with regulatory authorities, banking institutions and investors. This session will provide an overview of the most recent and pending accounting updates, including a delay on accounting standard changes on leases, credit losses and hedging. By the end of this update, attendees will be able to apply the new and changing standards to maintain the accuracy of their financial reporting. They will also be able to implement changes in their processes and systems to ensure compliance with the new regulations.

This presentation supplies detailed discussions regarding, global, national, and regional economic performance using the most current data available. Data will be supplied by various sources, including but not relegated to the International Monetary Fund, the Bureau of Economic Analysis, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Freddie Mac and Conference Board. Special attention is devoted to certain aspects of economic life, including the performance of financial, labor, real estate and construction markets. By the end of this session, attendees will be able to understand how various aspects of the economy are performing, identify what factors have been most highly influential in terms of shaping performance and recognize sources of uncertainty regarding the economic outlook and the most likely economic trajectory going forward.
4 – 5:30 p.m. – Cocktail Reception
After a full day of CPE, it’s time to unwind from absorbing all that new information as well as catch up with old and new friends and colleagues from organizations throughout Central and Eastern PA. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served. Grand prize will be drawn; you don’t need to be present to win.
