RKL Welcomes New Partners and Managers

New team members join RKL as result of merger with Padden, Guerrini & Associates

MECHANICSBURG, PA (January 8, 2018) – RKL LLP today announced that six management-level professionals have joined the firm as part of its merger with Padden, Guerrini & Associates, which took effect January 1, 2018.

The new team members, which include four partners and two managers, will be primarily based out of RKL’s Mechanicsburg office located at 91 Cumberland Parkway and serve clients throughout the firm’s geographic footprint in Pennsylvania and beyond.

  • David Padden, CPA, MBA: Padden joins RKL as a Partner in the firm’s Tax Services Group, and brings nearly four decades of experience providing accounting, tax and consulting services to business and individual clients. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Grove City College and an MBA from the Univeristy of Southern Mississippi. Padden resides in Mechanicsburg with his wife.
  • Karin M. Guerrini, CPA, CFE, CGMA: Guerrini brings more than three decades of experience in bank and credit union auditing to her new role as Partner in RKL’s Audit Services Group and member of the firm’s Financial Services Industry Group. She received her bachelor’s degree from Penn State University, and lives in Harrrisburg.
  • Allyson R. Hornbaker, CPA: Joining RKL as a Partner in the Audit Services Group, Hornbaker delivers assurance and management advisory services to clients, including financial statement audits and assistance with government reimbursement and HUD-sponsored projects. She received her bachelor’s degree from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, and resides in Enola with her husband and three children.
  • Stefanie M. Knaub: Knaub joins RKL as a Partner the firm’s nationally recognized Senior Living Services Consulting Group, specializing in all aspects of medical billing, including reimbursement, accounts receivable, policy and procedure review and operational improvement. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Albright College and resides in Dillsburg with her husband.
  • Rick Miller, CPA: As a Manager in RKL’s Audit Services Group, Miller has more than two decades of accounting experience serving the assurance and regulatory compliance needs of not-for-profit, senior living and commercial clients. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Eastern Mennonite University, and lives in Dillsburg with his wife and their son.
  • Nathan J. Babinsack, CPA: Babinsack joins RKL as a Manager in the firm’s Audit Services Group, bringing more than a decade of experience helping senior living providers and not-for-profit organizations manage regulatory compliance, financial record-keeping and more. He holds a bachelor’s from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, and resides in Newville with his wife and their two children.

Barrett, CPA/ABV, CVA, CGMA, achieved an advanced level of professional certification in business exit planning and value acceleration. Barrett, a Partner in RKL’s Business Consulting Services Group, recently earned the Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA) credential from the Exit Planning Institute.

Established in 2007, the CEPA program is the most widely endorsed exit planning designation in the world. To earn the CEPA credential, Barrett completed a comprehensive curriculum of individual study, hands-on instruction and a proctored examination, specifically designed for business advisors to privately held companies.

One of the region’s most skilled and highly credentialed business consultants and valuation experts, Barrett has three decades of experience assisting closely held companies and their owners with exit strategy formulation, ownership interest transfers, business valuations and succession plan development.

Barrett holds the Chartered Global Management Accountant designation and an Accreditation in Business Valuation from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She also belongs to the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. She resides in Maidencreek Township, Pennsylvania with her husband.

Currently a manager in RKL’s Audit Services Group, Mink plans and oversees audit engagements for a cross-section of the firm’s client base. He specializes in serving the consulting and assurance needs of many architecture and engineering firms throughout the Mid-Atlantic. Mink is also a key member of RKL’s Real Estate Development & Construction Industry Group, and he bolstered his industry expertise and relevance by achieving the elite Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP®) designation in 2015.

Since joining RKL in 2012, Mink has played a key role in the firm’s professional development, quality control and continuing education standards as a member of the firm’s Audit & Accounting Committee.

Mink is an active member and leader of several civic, community benefit and professional development organizations. Earlier this year, he was installed as Treasurer of the South Central Chapter of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) and was named Vice President of the York East Rotary Club. Mink also serves as Board Member and Treasurer for the Farm & Natural Lands Trust of York County and sits on the Annual Campaign Cabinet for the United Way of York County.

Mink received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from York College of Pennsylvania. A licensed Certified Public Accountant in Pennsylvania since 2007, he is a member of both the PICPA and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). (PGA) will be joining the firm as the result of a merger effective January 1, 2018. The transaction aligns two Central Pennsylvania-based firms with a shared focus on serving the needs of middle market commercial and individual clients based in the Greater Capitol Region, as well the credit union and senior living industries. Previously a manager in the Tax Services Group, Clark has amassed significant experience providing outsourced tax services to multinational companies since joining RKL in 2009.

Clark graduated summa cum laude from Liberty University with a B.S. in Accounting and earned his Masters in Taxation from Villanova University. He is a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA).

A member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Pelagatti participates on the AICPA Depository and Lending Institutions Expert Panel. He also is a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and is currently the chair of the PICPA Financial Institutions Training Committee.

Pelagatti is an active member of the New Jersey Bankers Association and the Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers, and sits on the advisory board of the Financial Managers Society. Gilbert, CPA, CGMA, has been named to the board of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA). Gilbert was elected as board Vice President during the recent PICPA 120th Annual CPA Convention held in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

As Vice President of the PICPA board, Gilbert will play a leading role in PICPA’s governance, strategic management and future advancement.

Gilbert is a Partner in RKL’s Audit Services Group with more than 20 years of assurance experience. She serves a broad range of industries including governmental agencies and not-for-profit organizations, specializing in employee benefit plan audits. Gilbert is a frequent speaker at local and state conferences and seminars.

In addition to her volunteer leadership role with PICPA, Gilbert also is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and the Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials, where she sits on the Accounting Committee. Gilbert also serves as Treasurer for Willow Valley Retirement Communities.

Gilbert holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Elizabethtown College. She resides in Elizabethtown with her husband and two children.

An active member of the Berks area business community, Peer belongs to the Reading Chapter of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants and serves as Board Member and Treasurer for the Berks County Estate Planning Council. She is equally engaged in philanthropic causes, currently serving as a Board Member, Treasurer/Secretary and Planning Giving Committee Member for the United Way of Berks County. Ostrowski, CPA, has been named Small Business Services Group Leader.

In addition to his new role of Audit Services Group Leader, Steven E. Fisher, CPA, will continue to oversee operations for RKL’s Reading office as its Managing Partner. He joined RKL in 2011, and for more than 25 years he has served the accounting and auditing needs of family owned businesses as well as private equity and venture capital-backed companies. Fisher is an active member of the firm’s Manufacturing & Distribution Industry Group, due to his deep industry expertise and experience serving these privately owned commercial clients. Bethany A. Novis, CPA/ABV, CVA, CFE, is a highly credentialed consultant with 25 years’ experience in fraud and forensic accounting, business valuation, risk management and litigation services. Since joining RKL in 2000, she has assisted clients with technical and sensitive matters including reconstruction of financial records, employee theft investigation, damage calculations for litigation purposes and valuation of stock for gifting, buyouts and marital settlement. Novis also served as Managing Partner of RKL’s Lancaster Office from 2011 to 2016. She holds a B.S. in Accounting from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and resides in Lancaster with her husband and son.

James H. Ostrowski, CPA, is responsible for driving firm wide growth and managing client service and team member development for RKL’s Small Business Services Group. Throughout his more than 30-year career in public accounting with RKL, Ostrowski has experience serving the tax and assurance needs of clients in various industries including trucking, construction, wholesale, retail and service companies. RKL Appoints New Tax Department Head in Lancaster Office

LANCASTER, PA (September 19, 2016) – Reinsel Kuntz Lesher LLP (RKL), Certified Public Accountants and Consultants, today announced that Wendy L. Lance, CPA, MST, has been named Department Head of the Tax Services Group in the firm’s Lancaster Office, effective September 16, 2016.

Lance takes over as Lancaster Tax Department Head from Eric R. Wenger, CPA, MST, who was recently named Managing Partner of the Lancaster Office. As Department Head, Lance will oversee administrative, personnel and financial matters for the tax department in the Lancaster Office. She will work closely with firmwide tax leadership to ensure consistency and cohesion in client service across the tax practice.

Lance will continue to provide and manage strategic tax planning and compliance services for corporations, partnerships and individuals.

A Certified Public Accountant in both Pennsylvania and Ohio, Lance regularly presents seminars on various tax-related topics. She is a graduate of Leadership Lancaster.

Lance holds a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Richmond and received her M.S. in Taxation from Villanova University. She lives in Lititz with her husband and their four children.
