Against a backdrop of regulatory change and fast-paced technological advances, RKL hosted more than 500 business leaders, financial executives and accounting professionals for the 2018 installment of its popular Tax and A&A Update on Tuesday, December 4 at the Lancaster County Convention Center.
With an agenda centered around recent tax changes and upcoming audit and accounting standards, RKL professionals presented morning sessions on hot topics like new corporate tax provisions, a guide to maximizing the Research & Development Tax Credit and the implications of the recent Supreme Court ruling on online sales tax collection and calculation.
After a break for lunch that afforded opportunities for conversation and connection, guest speaker Jay Schulman of RSM US LLP educated guests on Blockchain technology and how it differs from Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. RKL presenters wrapped up the afternoon session with an economic update, which examined the performance of the financial, labor and real estate markets, and an accounting update, which provided guidance on how to prepare for and apply new standards for revenue recognition and other critical practices.
Multiple networking breaks kept attendees engaged throughout the day, along with trivia questions that stumped many participants. As an additional sign of appreciation, RKL offered guests the chance to win raffle prizes like a Nintendo Switch, Bose Bluetooth speaker, a spa gift card and a vacation voucher. After a full day of educational sessions, the RKL team and guests toasted to the holiday season during a cocktail reception.
